Philippines long running black,thrashing maniacs are back with a new EP. Featuring three tracks of old schol thrashing black metal at it's finest.Up first is the title track Despotic Power with some well executed guitar patterns that are performed with skill and expierence.The gutiarist performs some memorabl guitar solo's throughout the song.The vocals are raw,gruff thrashy screams.Up next is  To Hunt,To Kill,To devour and it is another classic sounding anthem full of well executed guitar passages and some memorable guitar solo's.The drums are still pretty fast but do slow to a more controlled pace throughout this song.The drummer does let loose with some faster paced drums throughout the track for a nice balance between the two style.The final song is Terminator starting off with some fast paced guitars and drums the song is played with extremely tight and fast musicial passages.The vocals are raw,gruff growls and screams.Despotic Power(Maxi Single} is another great release from Paganfire if you know this band you know what to expect.If you are a new listener expect some memorable and well executed black thrashing metal that is done with some memorable musicial passages.

Attrition Cult--Epicaricacy (CS) {2026 Noxious Ruin Records}

From my home state of Michigan comes Attrition Cult, a noisy black death metal amalgam with simpler arrangements and the aesthetics of a Satanic bulldozer. This is firmly in the war metal camp, but they lean on the death metal side of their influences more often than the black metal side. There are two vocal styles, one low, one high. The low vocals are the most often used, brutal and unintelligible, but powerful. The high vocals are equally obscure but equally awesome. Both are overpowered by the guitars and drums, a hallmark of this particular style. The band is tight as can be, with solid compositions that may not be terribly catchy, but that's not necessarily what war metal is about. That's not to say there are no hooks, because they're definitely there if you listen closely, they're just hidden under all the violence and murk. This is quite an effort, and I look forward to perhaps encountering them at a show locally.
