EDITOR - PATRICK

I am the editor of Painful Reality. Originally, it started out as a fanzine back in the early 2000s. With three issues down I had some other stuff come up, so I had to stop doing the fanzine for various reasons. Over the years I have done some other various webzines and also written for the amazing Canadian Assault. The most recent and longest-running webzine I have worked on is Winter Torment, which originally started out as a black/dark metal webzine but over time I started to add more genres. 

The reason I decided to resurrect Painful Reality is because I wanted to expose the underground to the more extreme side of metal. I am only going to showcase unsigned, independent bands or smaller DIY labels that support the following genres: old-school death, black, and thrash metal, black/death, and war metal. I hope you find some bands or labels to your liking.

CONTRIBUTOR - ANDREW

I will occasionally provide material for Patrick's resurrected Painful Reality in the form of reviews. I have a knack for finding obscure bands, and this is the perfect place to showcase some of them. I helped lay out those original issues of Painful Reality, and it was a damn fine fanzine, and I'm glad I could be of assistance in getting this name back up and running.

CONTRIBUTOR - AOS

I am a longtime fan of Painful Reality Zine from the print days and now the website. I only read a few webzines, and this is one of them. Why? Because the editor, Patrick, is a true Underground obsessed freak and friend for many years.... and above all, he's in it for the right reasons and it shows in the content. It's an honor to have my contributions included alongside his and Andrew's. Elsewhere, I am editor of Devoured Death Zine, which is an old style cut n' paste, A5 xerox fanzine, which began in 2006 (a couple of years after I first met Patrick). Here at Painful Reality, I hope to exhume and review some of the darkest, most authentic and unholy Death Metal from across this cursed planet.... Salutes!
