Enthroning Nightfall--The Infernal Masquerade (Digital) {2026 Independent}

This is excellent symphonic black metal that remains rather raw in its execution and production, but the music does not suffer from it. In fact, it's helped by it, giving the recording its own character and feel. This four song EP is excellent black metal, on par with some of the best I've heard recently. The vocals are incredible, often delivered with a rapid-fire approach, where the singer rattles off a lot of words in each measure, and it's fucking awesome and interesting. The synths sound like a choir in the background on some tracks, and they really fill out the songs and give them texture. This is no saccharin sweet synth performance, it's grim. The songs would be fine without them, but not nearly as interesting as they are with them. Do not make the mistake of thinking this lacks any sort of extremity due to having these symphonic elements - they lead with blastbeats and there's plenty of double bass present. It's fast and extreme the way it should be. I'm a real fan of this recording now, and I can't wait to see what this band does next.
