1.Hello please introduce yourself to the readers?
Hey, my name is Klaudio, I write, perform, & produce everything so far in Malicious Entity
2.At what age did you first discover black and thrash metal? What was it about these genres that drew you in and has kept you here for so long?
I know this may not be considered EXACTLY black thrash, but I personally feel that it is a cornerstone of the genres roots and that's Hell Awaits by Slayer. I first got into this album at about 17 or 18 years old and I absolutely worshiped it. Everything about it is perfect, the mix, tones, riffing, songwriting, atmosphere, album art. That album to me is where I started with black thrash. But if were trying to be a bit more specific id say early Toxic Holocaust was probably my entry point which I discovered at around the same age. Then later on I got into bands like Aura Noir, Sabbat, Hellripper, Mortuary Drape and many more. What draws me in and keeps me coming back to this genre is the speed, aggression, the purely evil riffs, the adrenaline. I also love the imagery of some of the early bands, all the inverted crosses, leathers, chains, spikes, bullet belts, corpse paint, black cloaks. It's always appealed to me and I feel that it adds an element of mystery to the album itself which is always good.
3.Who were some of the first artists and bands that you discovered? Who are some of the current bands that you have been listening to?
When i was around 7 or 8 years old my father introduced me to bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Motley Crue. That's what kick started my love for metal & rock music for sure. However I was always trying to find something heavier and faster so naturally I stumbled upon hardcore punk music and fell in love with that entire genre. Bands like the Descendents, Bad Brains, and Minor Threat became some of my favorite. Still I was in search of more aggressive/intense songwriting. I eventually came across bands like Slayer, Possessed, and Death in my later teens which leads to where we are now, many band discoveries later haha. I also have a huge love for 90s rap music which again came from my father introducing me to Eminem. I then dove deep into that rabbit hole and found artists like Big L, Gang Starr, Rakim, so on. My music taste is everywhere, I listen to a lot of different styles and genres outside of metal, however extreme metal & hardcore punk have always been my most preferred.
4.Malicious Entity was started in 2021 what gave you the idea to start this band? Are you happy with how things have gone with the band over the years?
I've always wanted to express my ideas for an extreme metal band but no one around me at the time really was into starting that kind of band. So I just decided to start writing songs and practicing a lot during my spare time. Which I had endless amounts of at the time as I was living at home and still in school. Naturally, with all that practice I became better at my instruments. Then I learned I could actually record at home by myself and recording my own music suddenly became something achievable to me. I started saving whatever money I could to start acquiring gear and build a recording studio. Once I had everything I needed I began recording my songs and became obsessed with it. It became my favorite way to spend my time. I realized that I could just write and record the ideas I had without waiting for other people. Not that being in a band is a bad thing because I am in a few outside of Malicious Entity (The Rottweilers, Arrokoth) among 2 other unannounced bands. I just enjoy being able to make my own music without any agenda or other ties. And yes I am pleased with how the project has gone over the years. I love the progress I've made since I started Malicious Entity. I feel I have improved a lot on my recording/mixing techniques and my overall musicianship across all instruments in the duration of this project.
5.Who would you say are the bands biggest influences? For the readers who have never heard the band how would you best describe the bands musicial style?
I would say the biggest influences on the band would be Slayer, (mostly early stuff) Sabbat (Japan) Mortuary Drape, Hellripper, Toxic Holocaust, Bathory, Darkthrone. I can go on and on haha but those are the main influences. If anyone hasn't heard these bands go listen to them ALL. Theyre all adrenaline pumping, beer drinking, black speed, thrashing, maniacal, cross inverting, church destroying, demon summoning, bestial invading SICK ass bands that all fans of the genre should know.
6.I believe Malicious Entity is a one man band when you started out did you plan to work as a solo project?Would you like to add more members to form a full band?
Yes, as I said earlier, when I first started this project I didn't really have many like minded people to start a full band with. It was always meant to be a solo endeavor. Although I would love to play live shows eventually with a full band and im slowly working towards that goal. Life just gets very busy and I sometimes struggle to find the time to practice for 2-3 hrs every couple days, which is what it would take to begin playing live. Sometime soon it will happen though!
7.What do you feel is the best and worst things about being a one man band?If you had the opportunity to work with any musicians who would you like to work with?
The greatest thing about a solo project is the fact that everything is up to me. All of the ideas, riffs, recording process, writing, all of it is my choice ultimately. I don't have to wait for anybody else to continue with a song idea or to practice something I've been working on. Its all up to me which is the most liberating part of it all. I enjoy getting things done quick and on my own time and sometimes being in a band can obstruct that. On the other hand, being in a few bands myself, it is a great way to improve musicianship and working as a team towards a specific goal. I can come up with an idea, show it to my band, and that idea can expand in many different ways. That's the beauty of being in a band. So I honestly enjoy doing both solo work and being in a full band. I think doing both actually benefits me drastically as a musician.
8.Malevolent Ceremony is the second full length how long did it take you to write the music for this release? How long does it usually take to complete one song?
It took me about a year or so to complete the album. I believe I started seriously writing the songs for this one in late Summer of 2025 and started recording late Fall into the winter. This album took a bit longer than I anticipated because life got pretty busy during this time so I couldn't work on music as much as I wanted to. As for how long one song takes to write, it can either take a day or a week haha. It really depends on how many riff ideas I have, and if I want to make all of them work for one song or save some for a different song. Life also gets in the way of writing sometimes so there's a few varying factors at play.
9.Where do you draw inspiration for the lyrics and what are some subjects you wrote about on this release?
Lyrically my inspiration comes from books of the occult, history, religion, conspiracy, cryptids. Horror movies, folk lore stories, my own imagination at times. A few of the songs on the new album were inspired by the Manga series Berserk by Kentaro Miura. The song Invocation of Doom came right from a quote in those books. The song Malevolent Ceremony is inspired by moments in Berserk as well. Funerary Incantations is a direct quote from the original Evil Dead movie.
10.I believe Malevolent Ceremony is a digital release are their any plans for a physical release soon? Would you like to find a label to work with or do you prefer releasing your own music?
Yes absolutely! I am planning on doing a cassette tape run in the very near future and it will be released and distributed through my DIY Record label Revert Records. I am also currently working with another DIY label for CDs & Vinyl which will be sold & distributed through both their label & Revert Records, so keep an eye out for that!
11.Malicious Entity comes out of Canada's extreme metal scene what is your opinion of the scene in Canada over the years?
Canada's extreme metal scene i feel has always been pretty great! We've got bands like Razor, Annihilator, Dissection (Quebec) Sacrifice, and many more originators. The scene still thrives today with bands like Raider, Korrosive, Invicta, Mortuary Slab, Nachtlic, Violent Reztitution, Grave Infestation. There's always great new bands coming up on the scene and tons of shows to go to!
12.Who would you say are your all-time favorite bands coming out of Canada? Are their any new bands that you could recomend to the readers?
Some of my all time favorites are Dissection (Quebec) I found this band through a youtube recommendation a few years back now and probably a week later I found a cassette of it on ebay. Solid 80s thrash band. Along with Witch Hammer and Hedonist, both from Vancouver and Razor from Guelph.
13.When you need to take a break from working on new music or band business what do you like to do in your free time?
I actually have quite a few hobbies outside of music. Normally when im taking a break from music ill either go skate at the local skate park, snowboarding if its winter, fishing with my girl or with some friends, read a book or listen to records, work on my project car. I'm pretty much always busy with something. I don't like sitting around doing nothing much haha I like to keep moving.
14.Thank you for taking the time to fill this interview out do you have any final comments for the readers?
Beware for more unholy ritualistic spawn in the very near future. Lots of stuff in the works at the moment! Be sure to check out my recently launched diy label Revert Records, new tapes from some killer bands coming at you at blistering speed! Shout out to The Dog Shit Report, a local zine run by an amazing friend of mine, and the bassist in my band The Rottweilers, Jesse.
